Realstone_Travertino received the prestigious Sustainable Award at the 2024 Archiproducts Design Awards, now in their ninth edition, which celebrate excellence in design globally each year, with a jury composed of the world’s most influential architects, designers, and creative directors.
The Sustainable Award, introduced this year, is dedicated to products that stand out for their commitment to sustainability. Winners are selected based on the adoption of circular economy principles, the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials, the reduction of pollutant emissions throughout the entire production cycle, and the optimization of the product’s lifecycle.
Realstone_Travertino stood out for its high content of recycled material, ranging from 30% to 40%. The series also contributes to earning LEED® credits in the Materials and Resources category, supporting sustainable design. Among the many certifications attesting to its quality, the Greenguard certification stands out, ensuring compliance with the strictest international standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in indoor environments.
The collection is produced within a closed-cycle production system that involves the use of production waste, the recovery of process water, and excess heat generated during firing. This limits the consumption of natural resources and reduces the environmental impact, also thanks to the morphological and vegetational restoration of quarries and controlled waste management.
The award ceremony took place on November 14 in Milan at Superstudio Più, an event attended by numerous leaders in the design and architecture sectors.
