Casa Mavál: tradition and modernity in a bed and breakfast in Campobasso

The renovation of a 1900s bed and breakfast, enhanced by the Ragno collections for a perfect harmony between tradition and design.

Casa Mavál, located in Montenero di Bisaccia, stands atop one of the hills separating Vasto and Termoli, in a panoramic position offering a spectacular view of the inland. This charming bed and breakfast, once a residence from the 1900s, has undergone numerous transformations over the years. Its recent renovation has allowed the rediscovery and enhancement of the original floors’ beauty, preserving the charm of the past intact while simultaneously creating a contemporary and welcoming atmosphere.

The designers and owners, Valentina Magagnato and Borello Massimiliano, chose to breathe new life into the building by enhancing its post-colonial character, enriched with a touch of modernity. The small-format collections by Ragno played a fundamental role in this process, bringing a fresh and dynamic dimension to the spaces, with a play of colors and geometries that enrich every environment.

The main room enchants with the black and white flooring from the Contrasti collection in the 20×20 cm format, creating an elegant checkerboard effect. The adjoining bathroom echoes this style with the Tappeto 8 from the same collection, amplifying the optical effect. The walls are clad with the Mélange collection in Bordeaux (10×10 cm), which reinterprets the tradition of North African ceramics, with poetic imperfections that evoke the hand-chiseling of Berber artisans. The same collection also adorns the fireplace in the bedroom, adding a touch of warmth.

In another room, the cement tiles from the Contrasts Carpet 9 collection decorate the floor, while in the bathroom the Geometric Carpet 10 creates a dynamic interplay of shapes. The bathroom walls are also clad with the Contrasts collection in the delicate Celadon hue, while the shower wall is enriched by the glossy tiles of the Gleeze Turquoise collection (7.5×20 cm), distinguished by their shaded tones and the natural imperfections of the artisanal process, imparting an exclusive character.

For the outdoor area, Gleeze was used in the 10×10 cm format to clad the shower wall, creating an elegant and natural atmosphere. The Eye 3D structure finally adorns the small garden kitchenette, creating a welcoming and highly charming space.

Casa Mavál thus embodies a perfect balance between respect for tradition and contemporary innovation, an elegant and inviting refuge that tells a story of rebirth and timeless beauty.
