The 2021 edition of Cersaie, the ceramics and bathroom furnishing event that brings the Bologna fairground alive with new colours, textures and materials for surfaces in the home and beyond, ended a few days ago. The event’s great success with the general public and the growing visitor interest generated tells us that business is now back in full swing after the pandemic, and the wish to return to work on new products, experimenting, sharing and responding to new ideas, is even stronger than before.
The Ragno stand at Cersaie, in the large new hall 37, proved to be the perfect place for displaying this trend, with a dynamic, innovative project by architect Gianluca Rossi - Uainotarchitetti - expressing the whole spectrum of emotions inspired by the visit, embodied in an exciting pathway offering a series of visual and tactile surprises.
The stand, subdivided into attractive, well lit rooms, featured an assortment of not just residential but also commercial and hospitality interiors. This underlined that the mingling of functions may not only involve the planning and organisation of areas and routes but also influence architectural decisions regarding the approach to surfaces, viewed as part of a building envelope with profound communicative power.
The new Ragno stoneware and ceramic products are used to style a series of interiors that start from the home before opening out to the contract realm of a spa, a bookshop, a reading room, a hat shop, a wine bar and a bakery, finally extending into an outdoor area with a natural character emphasised by the full, intense green of the Giada colour of Gleeze.
However, the visitor experience starts with the marble effect, represented by the large slabs of the Incanto collection, an accurate interpretation of no fewer than 13 different types of stone. This exquisite pattern combines to perfection with the concrete of Stratford and the mix & match of marble and plaster of the white-body ceramic tiles of Mixed, neutral, colourful or decorated with damask, floral or botanical motifs, in modern, evocative interiors where matter communicates on a profound level of perception, closely linked to the concepts of the home and daily lifestyles.
In the contract spaces, the Incanto slabs dialogue with the Realstone Argent collection, featured both in the colours already in the catalogue and in the new Ghiaccio and Miele shades, cool and warm versions of the same neutral concept. Recurrent themes are the alternation of large and small, glossy and matt and modern and subtly retro, generating a timeless elegance and an image that continues to create the new by referencing the priceless, solid inspirational base of the past.
