Immersed among ancient pines and olive trees on the Iblean hills, a country house has been reborn thanks to a renovation project that weaves together memory, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. The concept, curated by DAA Studio, transformed a 1990s home into a welcoming and meaningful vacation house, where every detail tells a story.
The choice of Ragno materials was guided by the desire to combine technical performance and aesthetic value, in harmony with the spirit of the project. The ceramic surfaces were carefully selected to interact with the spaces and atmospheres:
For the floors, the Realstone PietrAntica Beige collection in 235/8″x471/4″ size was used, giving visual continuity and a natural tone to the rooms.
The monolithic fireplace was clad with Mélange Bordeaux square tiles in the 315/16″x315/16″ size, creating a warm and tactile focal point in the living area.
For the bathroom, Look Ocra and Look Avio wall tiles, both in the 23/8″x97/16″ size, were chosen for the shower and sink, with a play of colors recalling the tones of earth and sky.
The project preserved the original architectural lines, enhancing the curved volumes and sloping roofs. The three functional blocks of the house were differentiated by color on the facade: teal green cocciopesto for the kitchen, raw ochre for the sleeping area, and ivory white for the living area. Lava stone, used for thresholds and steps, creates a bold contrast, echoed in the interior cladding of the pool.
Inside, the reorganization of the spaces made it possible to create three bedrooms with private bathrooms, one of which has a panoramic terrace on the first floor, accessible via the original spiral staircase.
The furnishings, many custom-made by the owners, reflect an artisanal and personal vision for the project. Family objects have been reinterpreted: a weaving loom became a lamp, olive oil cans became garden furniture, old plumbing components were transformed into vases. Each element is part of an intimate and authentic narrative.
