Casa Teulada: contemporary identity balanced between color and material

Located on the second-to-top floor of a building in Via Teulada, Rome, Casa Teulada is the result of a 127 sqm renovation project curated by Marzia Fiume Garelli – FiumeArchitecture, carried out in collaboration with the company MGE Vokaj srl.
The project was designed for a family of four, who returned to the capital after years spent in London, and interprets a fluid, luminous, and contemporary idea of living.

The organization of the spaces revolves around a large open space, where distributive rigor combines with a careful research of materials. The continuous gray resin flooring creates a uniform and minimal base, enhancing natural light and highlighting the selection of materials. On this neutral surface, design solutions are incorporated that define a language that is essential yet dynamic.

It is in the bathrooms where the project most intensely expresses the dialogue between material, color, and light, thanks to the use of the Gleeze porcelain stoneware collection by Ragno. The resin walls are dressed in a deep, earthy ochre yellow shade, creating a sophisticated contrast with the three-dimensional ceramic surfaces.

In the main bathroom, the Gleeze collection is used in the 5×15 cm format through a dynamic mix of Gleeze Turchese Glossy and the three-dimensional structure Gleeze Turchese Eye. The result is a vibrant composition, where turquoise interacts with the ochre resin, evoking aquatic atmospheres and marine depths. The surfaces come to life thanks to the three-dimensionality, which amplifies the perception of the space.

In the secondary bathroom, the project develops a more natural palette, based on green tones. The 3^15/16″x3^15/16″ format alternates the smooth finish with the Gleeze Giada Egg structure, creating a balanced visual rhythm. The jade green, combined with the warm base of the resin, evokes organic impressions and natural spaces, resulting in an intimate and welcoming room.

Light is the central element of the project: an integrated overhead LED system grazes the ceramic surfaces, enhancing the three-dimensional geometries of the Eye and Egg structures. The grazing light creates a continuous play of reflections and shadows, transforming the walls into moving surfaces that change perception throughout the day.

Thanks to the combination of texture, color, and luminous effect, the Gleeze collection by Ragno stands out as the main feature in defining the identity of the bathroom spaces, helping to create rooms with a strong material and contemporary impact.
